Abraham’s Tent strives to empower the next generation by harnessing the dedication of volunteers and the support of generous donors to foster equitable access to education. Our efforts encompass mentorship, scholarship funding, and the establishment of a dedicated school.

Impact

In 2022, Abraham’s Tent established the only tuition-free private school in the Berbice region of Guyana. Currently there are 97 students enrolled in grades 1-7, which will expand to a full K-12 program each year as students progress.

Since 2018, scholarships have been awarded to 33 students attending universities including Columbia, Dartmouth, Stanford, Harvard, and more. Abraham’s Tent is proud to announce that in 2023, 11 Sharmallison Scholarship recipients graduated.

    Even with the best financial packages, there are certain fees that aren't listed from ordinary items like laundry soap to being able to print papers at the school's printers. With the Abraham's Tent scholarship, I am able to pay the Dartmouth Insurance plan and also have extra money to buy mundane items. Without the scholarship, I would be working more than I would be studying. If anything as a first gen student this money helps me have the time to put myself in a more equitable position with my classmates.
